Imja Tse, popularly known as Island Peak, is a mountain peak connected to the ridge that descends from the southern end of Lhotse Shar, located less than 10 kilometers from Everest. In 1953, a British expedition team scaled this peak as a part of their preparations for climbing Everest. Today, climbing Island Peak serves as a stepping stone to conquering the giant peaks of the Himalayas.
After inspecting all the necessary gear and exploring the bustling city of Kathmandu, we embark on an exhilarating flight to Lukla's STOL airport to begin our journey towards Island Peak and Everest Base Camp. Our Island Peak expedition is organized in conjunction with a trek to Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar before reaching the peak's summit.
We take a less-traveled and more extended route towards the base camp to acclimatize ourselves properly and to explore more than traditional travelers. Our return journey follows a different path, ensuring that we experience even more.
To ensure the safety and success of the climb, our experienced climbing guides will provide specialized climbing training sessions at Island Peak Base Camp. This training will equip you with the necessary skills to scale the peak successfully and safely.
