Best Trekking in Nepal Experience

Every year Nepal attracts +200,000 trekkers. Trekking in Nepal today is completely different to that of the past. In all the main trekking areas, the National Parks and Conservation Areas lodges have been established . Trekkers can find accommodation, food and meet other trekkers and locals along the way.  Well maintained and sign-posted trails are available. The lodges have facilities for charging batteries and  often have email facilities.

Domestic flights generally occur early morning, and so if two domestic flights are required to reach the start of the trek, appropriate timing should be allowed. Trekkers can find a trail for any time of year. The southern areas of Nepal receive higher levels of precipitation. Winter in Nepal is good but colder with shorter days and  seasonal rain and snow storms affects spring. Summer in Nepal is short and  the monsoons quickly follows.

The three main trekking areas and therefore the most easily accessible are the Everest, Langtang and the Annapurna regions.  Annapurna and Langtang have a slight advantage in so much as you can  reach there via road connections. Great Himalaya Trails has extensive information on other trekking regions, which are accessible by domestic flights, such as Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Dolpo, and the Far West.

The Manaslu trek officially opened for trekking only in the early 90s. It is also a cutural trek par excellence, and without a doubt one of the best treks in Nepal. An appropriate name might be ‘Anaslu’ as this trek is likely to take over the popularity of the infamous Annapurna Circuit trek. The route of Manaslu Trek circumnavigates Mt. Manaslu (8,156 m), the 8th highest mountain in the world, reaching its highest point at Larkya Pass which offers unhindered views of Manaslu.
