Packing for Trekking in Nepal

Many people wonder when it comes packing to leave on a trek adventure to Nepal. It is very important to know what to pack for Nepal. It also depends on what time of year you are coming to nepal and which trek you are doing like the high treks like Everest Base camp, Annapurna Base Camp, Three passes Treks in everest Region or Manalsu Trek or eaasy treks like Ghorepani Trekking or Chisapani Nagarkot Trekking. This packing list is for general idea. We will provide you clean sleeping bags and nice warm down jackets if you are not bringing them from nepal Spiritual Trekking company office.


  • 4 X Passport size photos (1 for Nepal entry visa, 3 for trekking registration
  • lightweight gifts – pens & pencils etc
  • photocopy of visa, passport & insurance
  • money to cover extra meals: approx $30 per day (depends on the type of place you go to eat in Kathmandu and Pokhara). You will have the opportunity to explore the many diverse food outlets or eat at the stated accommodation. Cost $5-$15 per meal.
  • personal expenses for drinking water and any additional food/drinks while on the trek
  • money for tipping guides & porters (withdraw before start of trek, as no access to ATM on the trek) approx. $50 to $100



It is much cheaper (& better for the Nepali economy) to gear up in Kathmandu or Pokhara. You can buy anything you need including down jackets, gaiters, walking poles, power adaptors ($3), stash sacks ($10), dymox & water purification tablets. Jackets & sleeping bags can also be hired ($2-$3 ea per day). Quality is not up to Western standards but will do most of the time.
