  • George Everest, Surveyor General of India from 1830 to 1843, discovered Mt. Everest in 1841.
  • Mt. Everest is also home to a very minute black jumping spider. These spiders hide in crevices and take advantage of frozen insects. Their food depends mostly on what’s blown by the wind into the particular area. They live as high as 22,000 feet.
  • Over 260 folks have died on Mt. Everest.
  • In 2014, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake triggered an avalanche that base camp killed 16 Sherpa and climbers and injured 61. this is often the best tragedy ever seen on Mt. Everest.
